Snowflake Transportation, one of the leading trucking companies in western New York is looking to hire a skilled Fleet Maintenance Service Manager that is responsible for leading a team of Technicians and Mechanics in our preventive maintenance repair program, including heavy duty Trucks, Dump Trailer, Flatbeds, Tanker Trailer, & Vans Trailers to ensure a safe and efficient fleet.
Essential Functions
- Workflow Management:
- Responsible for work analysis, planning and scheduling, and assigning work to technicians, productivity tracking and optimization, shift and shop meetings, and RO review and approval
- Ensures all warranty policies and procedures are executed
- Responsible for unscheduled customer drive-ins, and for communicating with customers and assigning work to technicians as appropriate
- Responsible for conducting yard checks to ensure proper work scheduling and prioritization
- Labor Management:
- Provides management, training and development of all personnel assigned
- Supervises all mechanics and manages hours worked and schedules
- Assists with hiring, training, managing and motivating fleet team to support the shop facility
- Customer Management:
- Responsible for customer relationship management to include issue resolutions, customer satisfaction, as well as ensuring vehicle uptime
- Responsible for customer communication protocol as it pertains to PM Scheduling & follow-up, breakdowns, and vehicle status updates. This includes coordination and scheduling of third-party vendors for equipment installations and/or repairs
- Asset Management:
- Directs his/her direct reports in maintaining the appearance and maintenance of assigned location, including sustaining standards in all relevant shop areas of responsibility
- Evaluates needs and makes recommendation for shop tooling and equipment requirements. This includes uniforms, parts inventory, tire program, oil, and gas.
- Collects, reviews, and addresses all issues on a driver’s vehicle inspection reports
- Quality Management:
- Responsible for Quality Inspections of PM & repairs, as well as performing In Process Reviews of non-PM work
- Perform breakdown root cause analysis, implement corrective actions locally, and when necessary, communicate issues to others
- Ensure Cleanliness and quality of repair for all maintained vehicles and yard organizational and cleanliness
- Maintain control/visibility over shop floor activities to ensure proper root cause diagnosis by technicians and that the yield on all parts/components is optimized
- Conduct fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met and is in compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations
- Financial Management:
- Accountable of an operational budget and financial tracking of all expenditures for fleet location and facility. Responsible for ensuring shift/shop delivers against budget without sacrificing quality, safety, or customer satisfaction
- Responsible for Payroll, Purchase Order approval, as warranted, and invoice reconciliation, and fuel reconciliation
- Analyzes and tracks costs and expenses
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lead by example and foster collaboration within the workplace and with the highest integrity, professionalism, and respect
- Strong organizational and good verbal communication skills. Fluent in English, both oral and written. (Bi-lingual: English/Spanish is a plus)
- Knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
- Strong vehicle diagnostics/repair knowledge
- Microsoft Office intermediate preferred
- Experience with a Shop Management System preferred
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, maintaining the ability to change, adapt, and be flexible in all areas of responsibility
- Associate’ degree or vocational/tech program with three (3) years progressive experience in fleet management, within a maintenance operations environment; or combination of education and experience with demonstrated success in previous roles
- Class A license or CDL required
- Maintenance, repair, and technical experience to include heavy-duty repair and maintenance of trucks and equipment in a shop environment required
- Supervisory experience preferred

- In the course physical work may include bending, stooping, crouching, or other physical activity.
- Lifting of various objects and tools up to 40lbs.
- May be required to commit to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals and/or deadlines, including works on the weekends and holidays to meet deadlines.
